The Act defines and distinguishes between reserved and unreserved legal activities in England and Wales. Reserved activities are those specific that Parliament has determined must be undertaken only by authorised persons. Other areas of law fall within the category of unreserved activities and can be carried out by competent providers subject to the law and consumer-protection standards that apply to all professional services.
Aldwych Legal Limited focuses exclusively on those legal services. These include legal consultancy, drafting, negotiation, research, compliance, policy and education-law representation, and strategic advisory work. Within these areas we operate to the same ethical and professional standards expected of any leading legal practice, ensuring that our clients receive work of the highest quality, prepared and supervised by legally trained professionals.
We coordinate with our extensive network of independent solicitors and barristers who are authorised by their respective regulators—the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Bar Standards Board, or another approved body for them to carry out reserved work. Should your matter require litigation, advocacy before a court, or any other reserved function, we will support you to ensure that the appropriate regulated professional is instructed to act. Any such engagement will be between you and that regulated professional directly.
This model of practice is fully recognised under the Legal Services Act and within the broader legal-services market. The vast majority of legal work undertaken by individuals and businesses—such as contractual, commercial, employment, education, compliance, civil and advisory matters falls outside the list of reserved activities.
