Slater and Gordon Says Firm Has Strong Platform Despite Profit Decline

Slater and Gordon has described its financial position as a “strong platform” for future growth despite reporting a fall in pre-tax profit for 2025.

Accounts filed for the calendar year show that the firm’s pre-tax profit fell by 38% to £4.3 million. This came despite revenue increasing by 54% to almost £108 million.

The firm said the reduction in profit reflected investment made during the year in infrastructure and technology, alongside wider inflationary pressures. These included higher employer National Insurance contributions.

A deferred tax credit of £13.9 million was also recognised in the accounts, resulting in post-tax profits of £18.2 million. Net assets increased from £30 million to £48 million, while the firm reported cash reserves of almost £6 million.

The business recorded double-digit growth in new multi-track and intermediate-track cases during the year. It also reported a significant number of new clients seeking compensation in connection with alleged car finance mis-selling.

Slater and Gordon also took steps to strengthen its financial position. The group raised £40 million in new equity, including £10 million raised in May 2026. It also completed a refinancing arrangement involving a £30 million, three-year facility provided by litigation funder Harbour.

Nils Stoesser, chief executive of Slater and Gordon, said the results demonstrated the strength of the firm’s strategy and highlighted the progress made in positioning the business for future growth.

According to Stoesser, the increase in revenue reflected investment in the business, continued demand for its legal expertise and its focus on areas where it could provide clients with specialist services.

He said the investment had created a strong foundation for the firm’s continued expansion and would support its financial performance going forward.

At the end of 2025, Slater and Gordon employed 824 people, including 406 fee earners. The firm operates from 11 offices across England, Wales and Scotland.

The results highlight the firm’s strategy of investing in technology, infrastructure and its legal services while continuing to expand its caseload and strengthen its balance sheet.
